Who we are
Bastuhus Sauna House ("Bastuhus", "we", "us", "our") operates a sauna and cold plunge house at 536 Eastern Ave, Leslieville, Toronto, Ontario, and the website at bastuhus.ca. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
We are a Toronto, Ontario business and handle personal information in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
We collect only what we need to run bookings and the facility.
- Account and booking details. Name, email address, phone number, and your booking, pass and membership history, entered when you create an account or book through our booking system.
- Payment details. Payments are handled by our payment processor. We do not store your full card number.
- Health and safety acknowledgements. Your confirmation that you have read our terms and waiver, and any health information you choose to tell us so we can look after you safely.
- Mailing list. Your email address if you join our mailing list on our website, with the date you signed up and a record of your consent. Our emails may also tell us whether they were opened and which links were clicked, so we can make them more useful.
- Messages. Anything you send us by email or social media, and your mobile number and consent record if you opt in to text messages.
- Website usage. Pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, collected through Google Analytics.
How we use it
- To create your account, take bookings and payments, and manage passes and memberships.
- To send booking confirmations, reminders and account notices.
- To send news about Bastuhus, such as our opening date, to people who have joined our mailing list.
- To send promotional offers, only where you have agreed to receive them.
- To run the facility safely and respond to questions, requests and complaints.
- To understand how the website is used and improve it.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
Your consent
We collect, use and share your personal information with your consent, given when you create an account, make a booking, join our mailing list, contact us or opt in to messages. You can withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual limits, by contacting us. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide some services, such as bookings.
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link at the bottom of every email, or by contacting us.
Text messages
No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Storage outside Canada
Some of our service providers, including Mariana Tek / Xplor, Google and MailerLite, store data on servers outside Canada, including in the United States. Your information may therefore be stored and processed outside Canada and may be accessible to courts and authorities in those countries under their laws.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as the law requires, then delete or de-identify it.
How we protect it
We use reasonable safeguards, including access controls and the security measures of the providers named above. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password for your account.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent. Email hello@bastuhus.ca and we will respond within the time the law allows.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle your information, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
Age
Bastuhus facilities are for guests 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
